The Skipper, owner and operator of Pettifox is Johnny Barley. Born and bred in Cornwall, he has grown up on the water in a converted old boathouse on the water’s edge of the Fowey River in Polruan.

Johnny started sailing when he was just 3 years old and has gone from Optimists, Lasers, and his own little classic (Sparrow) boat when he was just 13. Johnny has had work experience at Pendennis shipyard and Princess yachts as well as attending Falmouth Marine School. He has spent many seasons sailing as crew and first mate aboard Bessie Ellen and has attended many international classic festivals as crew.

When Johnny is not available, relief skipper Adam Spargo will be aboard. Adam has years of experience in commercial chartering and has sailed with many of the traditional heritage boats via youth training academies as an instructor. Also Cornish born, Adam is a keen oysterman and spends his time fishing with the Falmouth working boats.

With a commercially endorsed skippers certificate and all the relevant up to date qualifications, you could not wish to meet more friendly skippers for your sailing trip and adventure on Pettifox.
