Sail and race with Escape as she takes part in the iconic Falmouth Classics Regatta and Sea Shanty Festival.
Falmouth Classics began in the early 1980s and has since become one of Falmouth’s most popular weekends. Attracting people from all over the world, traditional and classic ships arrive to race in the mouth of the River Fal, Carrick Roads and the beautiful Falmouth Bay. From classic yachts to traditional luggers – the harbour is filled with beautiful classics, exhilarating races and a fascinating parade of sail. See Falmouth Classics for its full sailing programme and weekend itinerary.
Onshore in Falmouth town you’ll be entertained on every street corner and pub as the International Sea Shanty Festival takes place alongside Falmouth Classics. Sing along with over 60 musical groups from shores far and wide in over 20 venues around the town. With plenty of ale and rum to quench your thirst, you’ll soon feel compelled to join in with these traditional songs from seafarers of old! See Falmouth Sea Shanty for more information and the weekends’ itinerary.
The excitement is undeniably best seen from the water, however, the atmosphere in the town is not to be missed either. With pop-up maritime stalls, traditional Cornish pubs and cobbled streets; Falmouth will be a great place to soak up the passion for sailing that is so prevalent in the town. The itinerary can be flexible but the intention will be to participate in the races throughout Friday and Saturday with a parade of sail taking place on Sunday. Escape is very much in it for the pleasure and goes by the “it’s the taking part that counts”! Each evening there is entertainment and social events ashore which guests are invited to attend. Saturday normally holds an “open boat” event on the pontoon where you can climb aboard and visit other classic yachts.
Andy and Tash pride themselves on the food served aboard Escape, with a delicious selection of meals all included in the price. With croissants, cream teas, cheese boards and fresh bread, you won’t be going hungry on this stunning classic yacht.
As with all Escape’s sailing holidays, your ticket price includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Soft Drinks. There are two single bunks in the saloon and a double bed in the fore cabin. The double bed cabin does have access to the toilet so please note that this is not a private cabin. There is a single toilet and washroom on board but no shower. Escape will stop every day to use onshore showers in yacht clubs. All cabins have bedding and towels provided.

Guest berths: 6 Rig: Gaff Yawl
Escape is a 43-foot wooden classic gaff yawl built in 1937 by Kristensen in Norway. She was originally designed by Colin Archer as a sailing lifeboat but was refined to make her slightly smaller and easier to sail by her owners.
Today, her owner and skipper Andy sails his guests around the west country, from Escape’s home port of Dartmouth all the way down the Devon to Cornish coast, over to the Isles of Scilly and even across the channel to France! She’s the perfect vessel for a family holiday or for a group of friends after something a little different – and with great food and drink included in the price, a voyage on Escape won’t be forgotten!
Andy, his partner Tash and his crew will give you a totally relaxed holiday experience but if and when you do want to be involved, they are more than happy to share their knowledge and show you the ropes!More about Escape
