Join Escape in Falmouth, Cornwall as she offers a 4-day summer sailing trip along the Cornish coast. Your voyage begins with the opportunity to watch Tall Ships from all over the world gather in Falmouth as they get ready to begin their first race of 2021. Escape will be sailing out of the harbour on Thursday morning with the parade of sail. A truly fascinating event to be a part of and will be an unforgettable part of your sailing holiday in Cornwall.
This voyage is perfect for those who want to get to grips with traditional, classic yacht sailing in sheltered waters, or simply wanting to soak up the diversity of Cornwall’s coastline.
Once you’ve watched the tall ships disappear over the horizon, it’s time to spend a couple of days exploring the Cornish coast. The rest of your voyage will, of course, be dictated by the direction of the wind and tide to make full use of Escape’s sails, so there is no set route or itinerary.
It is likely that you will head west, down the beautiful Cornish coastline and up the Helford River exploring the beautiful creeks that have inspired the likes of Daphne du Maurier. Moor up on National Trust beaches, visit riverside smuggler’s inns and experience true freedom as the wind fills Escape’s sails and propels you along this unique and impressive coastline. Onto the Lizard peninsula, home to the most southerly point of the British mainland, and its remoteness means that even in the height of summer there are plenty of golden sandy beaches that you can have all to yourself. Or if you fancy, take yourself along the breathtaking, award-winning coastal footpaths, stopping at one of plenty of pubs along the way. Meander around the small fishing port of Coverack, sailing through the crystal clear waters into the harbour and visiting local art galleries and shops.
If the wind takes you up the coast, discover Place creek beyond St Mawes before continuing up the coast maybe even sailing all the way up to the historic port of Fowey and Poldark country before returning back to Falmouth. This is one of the most unique ways to explore the South coast of Cornwall – and one of the best.
Whichever way you head along the Cornish coast, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Dolphins, birds and plenty of other marine life. You might even fancy a swim in the beautiful Helford river so don’t forget your swimsuit!
Andy and Tash are always happy to share their knowledge, from learning knot tying to chart reading, you won’t be disappointed! They pride themselves on the food served aboard Escape, from cream teas, cheese boards and fresh bread, you won’t be going hungry during an exhilarating day sailing on this stunning classic yacht.
With good food, classic sailing and a plethora of wildlife, this is a holiday for all abilities not to be missed!
As with all Escape’s sailing holidays, your ticket price includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Soft Drinks. There are two single bunks in the saloon and a double bed in the fore cabin. The double bed cabin does have access to the toilet so please note that this is not a private cabin. There is a single toilet and washroom on board but no shower. Escape will stop every day to use onshore showers in yacht clubs. All cabins have bedding and towels provided.
Simply click “Enquire Now” to reserve your berth for five days whilst you sort your travel plans. No booking form or deposit is required until you are ready to book!
Escape
Guest berths: 4 Rig: Gaff Yawl
Escape is a 43-foot wooden classic gaff yawl built-in 1937 by Kristensen in Norway. She was originally designed by Colin Archer as a sailing lifeboat but was refined to make her slightly smaller and easier to sail by her owners.
Today, her owner and skipper Andy sails his guests around the west country, from Escape’s home port of Dartmouth all the way down the Devon coast exploring Salcombe & Yealm or Torbay and Brixham. She’s the perfect vessel for a family sailing holiday or for a group of friends after something a little different – and with great food and drink included in the price, a sailing holiday on Escape won’t be forgotten!
Andy and his crew will give you a totally relaxed sailing holiday experience but if and when you do want to be involved, they are more than happy to share their knowledge and show you the ropes!
