Experience the beauty of Norway’s fjords. One of the most spectacular sailing venues in the world. Exploring this coastline by sail is an experience to be savoured and these expeditions we will take things a little slower, allowing time to appreciate the scenery, fill your memory card with stunning photos and explore ashore.

This trip is part three of three expeditions and this is the last leg from Bronøysund to Kristiansund. Using the sheltered inner passage systems will take us through some stunning scenery. Narwhal will seek out a sheltered anchorage between the mountains and islands each evening and enjoy the extended arctic sunset while you do a spot of fishing, photography or general exploring. Fjords, sea eagles and stunning scenery will be amongst the highlights of this expedition.

Joining Narwhal in the bustling town of Bronøysund is a great way to begin your arctic adventure. You will have the opportunity to settle in and be shown around the boat as well as to explore the town and get your first taste of life above the arctic circle. Skippers Katharine and Eric will introduce you to everything that you need to know about Narwhal, life onboard and the research projects that they will be undertaking. Dinner will be provided onboard on the first evening, a great opportunity to get to know your fellow crew and guests.

Following initial safety briefings, Narwhal will set sail for the sheltered and spectacular fjords around Bronøysund providing the perfect opportunity to get used to the boat and trial some of the research equipment. There will be plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of the arctic landscape.

This voyage will take us through an intricate maze of fjords and island and along the way Narwhal will be surveying and beach cleaning, sampling for ocean microplastics and recording marine wildlife sightings. Narwhal will predominantly be sailing during the day, conducting open water projects as she goes. There are so many beaches in this area affected by plastic pollution that can only be reached by boat so our efforts make a real difference. You will also get to experience first hand the remote wilderness and its wonderful wildlife that we are working to protect.

Narwhal will be travelling at a slower pace, giving us plenty of time to appreciate and explore the scenery around us, relax and unwind in an untamed wilderness. If you are dreaming of stretching your horizons beyond the arctic circle but are not sure how to take the first step, then this expedition is for you.

As you approach Kristiansund you may even have the opportunity to visit Torghatten, the famous ‘mountain with a hole’ steeped in Viking history. Narwhal will moor up for the night in Kristiansund and enjoy our final evening on board with dinner and time to swap stories, highlights and pictures from the expedition.
