Fjord Cruising Bodø – Bronøysund

Experience the beauty of Norway’s fjords. One of the most spectacular sailing venues in the world. Exploring this coastline by sail is an experience to be savoured and these expeditions we will take things a little slower, allowing time to appreciate the scenery, fill your memory card with stunning photos and explore ashore.

This trip is part two of three expeditions and this leg is from Bodø to Bronøysund. Starting above the arctic circle you will get to experience the thrill of crossing this magical line of latitude. Using the sheltered inner passage systems will take us through some stunning scenery. We may even have the opportunity to visit the Svartisen glacier or the offshore island of Treana. Narwhal will seek out a sheltered anchorage between the mountains and islands each evening and enjoy the extended arctic sunset while you do a spot of fishing, photography or general exploring. Fjords, sea eagles and stunning scenery will be amongst the highlights of this expedition.

Joining Narwhal in the vibrant city of Bodø is a great way to begin your arctic adventure. You will have the opportunity to settle in and be shown around the boat as well as to explore the town and get your first taste of life above the arctic circle. Skippers Katharine and Eric will introduce you to everything that you need to know about Narwhal, life onboard and the research projects that they will be undertaking. Dinner will be provided onboard on the first evening, a great opportunity to get to know your fellow crew and guests.

Following initial safety briefings, Narwhal will set sail for the sheltered and spectacular fjords around Bodø, providing the perfect opportunity to get used to the boat and trial some of the research equipment. There will be plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of the arctic landscape.

During this expedition, Narwhal will be travelling at a slower pace, giving us plenty of time to appreciate and explore the scenery around us, relax and unwind in an untamed wilderness. The aim is to sail during the day and then find a wild anchorage to explore and spend the night. If you are dreaming of stretching your horizons beyond the arctic circle but are not sure how to take the first step, then this expedition is for you.

As you approach Bronøysund you will have a fantastic view of the Seven Sisters mountain range, steeped in Viking history. Narwhal will moor up for the night in Bronøysund and enjoy our final evening on board with dinner and time to swap stories, highlights and pictures from the expedition.

*The exact itinerary that we follow will be chosen each day by your skipper to make the best use of the weather conditions. Since we operate with just a small number of guests on board, we can tailor the areas that we explore based on your interests. All meals and hot/soft drinks and hire of a waterproof all in one are included in your ticket price.
