Join Reminder in her home port of Maldon. A delightful market town based on the East Coast of England tucked up in River Blackwater. This part of England is full intricate waterways, tranquil creeks and pretty estuaries, perfect to explore under sail.
Meet Reminder on Friday evening and meet your fellow guests over supper. After an early start to catch the tide and a hearty breakfast on Saturday, it’s time to sail away past Bradwell and Mersea Island into the mouth of the River Colne. This area is full of mudflats and salt marshes and is rife with birdlife so make sure you have your binoculars ready as we sail past the Fingringhoe Wick Bird Reserve.
Once into the River Colne, Reminder will sail past the waterside town of Brightlingsea and take the flood tide up to picturesque Wivenhoe Quay. There may be time for a brief shore visit here to explore its fascinating waterfront before heading to our overnight anchorage of Pyefleet Creek. These creeks estuaries have been harvested for Oysters for over a thousand years and there are still remains of fish weirs from the Anglo Saxon era so Reminder is right at home here.
On Sunday Reminder will sail out of the Colne and back into the River Blackwater for a good sail on the flood tide, returning to Maldon after a good lunch on board.
