Join Reminder in her home port of Maldon. A delightful market town based on the East Coast of England tucked up in River Blackwater. This part of England is full intricate waterways, tranquil creeks and pretty estuaries, perfect to explore under sail.
Meet Reminder on Friday evening and meet your fellow guests over supper. As the tide creeps in, Reminder will slip down the river around midnight and anchor overnight on Osea Island.
After a hearty breakfast on Saturday, it’s up anchor to sail away and explore the river Blackwater. Blackwater Estuary Nature Reserve will be our first point of interest to sail by with plenty of birdlife taking residence in the mudflats and marshes. This estuary has been harvested for Oysters for over a thousand years and there are still remains of fish weirs from the Anglo Saxon era.
Reminder will continue past Tollesbury Creek and Mersea Island to the mouth of the River Colne where she will either anchor at Brightlingsea or Bradwell for the night depending on the weather. Either location will give guests the chance to take a shore visit for beachcombing, exploration or to find a local pint! On Sunday Reminder will take the tide back up the river Blackwater before returning to Maldon after a substantial Sunday Roast onboard.
There are currently no voyages scheduled. Please get in touch with the VentureSail team to find out what’s available, or if other upcoming voyages might be suitable.
