The Emerald Isle attracts plenty of visitors every year. On this voyage you’ll have the chance to sail on Cherokee, a cutter yacht, from Belfast to Dublin – the trip of a lifetime.
Departing the vibrant city of Belfast, Cherokee’s skipper will set her sails and harness the wind up the Irish Sea and along the east coast to Bangor’s beautiful marina. Wind and tide allowing, the next day Cherokee will head to the large sea loch of Strangford Lough. With its exceptional wildlife, diverse landscape and hills shrouded in history, Strangford Lough is beautiful from the water but don’t miss the chance to explore by foot either. The following day, guests will be able to visit the world-renowned gardens of Mount Stewart and the neo-classical house, a National Trust property that is one of the finest in Ireland, steeped in history.
Cherokee’s next stop will most likely be Carlingford Lough, a stunning fjord with strong currents and brilliant sailing. The lough has wonderful views of the Mourne Mountains, a granite mountain range, and plenty of picturesque villages to discover. It’s a great place to discover the authentic Irish charm, with traditional pubs and classic Irish hospitality everywhere you go. After Carlingford, Cherokee will head off to Malahide, before reaching the bright lights of Dublin on the last evening. Guests and crew will get ashore to the city, walk to old town and get some dinner in a pub accompanied by traditional Irish music!
In 2008, Jouke Lemmer purchased Cherokee after spending years sailing his father’s ship amongst others. The youngest in our fleet, Cherokee was built in 2000 by award-winning boat builders J & J design. A year after buying her, Jouke refitted Cherokee radically, transforming her into a truly comfortable charter vessel, giving her a cutter rig and space for a generator so as to offer his passengers power and hot showers!
She is a fast, 16m vessel with a stunning teak deck and spacious cockpit, and she operates with two crew members (her skipper and the bosun/chef). Cherokee is exceptionally good at what she was built to do – pure sailing.
Jouke sails his ship all over the northern hemisphere, leaving Cherokee’s home port of Rotterdam in May and sailing over to the Channel Islands, the Faroe Islands and the Shetlands before making the journey back to Holland in October. Join him and his wonderful ship for the adventure of a lifetime – think exhilarating sailing, bucket list destinations and top notch hospitality.
