Join a traditional Cornish lugger for a day’s sailing experience offering the best vantage point during the Brixham Heritage Regatta.

Join Our Daddy in the traditional fishing village of Brixham, located on the beautiful South Devon Coast. This weekend marks the annual Brixham Heritage Regatta where classic, traditional and heritage boats will flock into the harbour and spend the weekend racing and sharing stories! Fishing trawlers first raced from Brixham as far back as the 1800’s but since 1997, the event has been open to all classic and traditional vessels and has become a highlight in the sailing calendar.

This day sail offers you the best vantage point as you spend the day taking part in the Regatta racing! Our Daddy runs the strict policy of “it’s the taking part that counts”!! Once you have taken part in the Parade of Sail and competed in your Class race, sail out into the bay to anchor for lunch. There are often dolphins swimming across the Bay in the wake of the bows and on the rare occasion, pilot whales have also been spotted so don’t forget your binoculars!

Tim and Steve have been sailing this coast for years and used to run their own sailing school so you couldn’t be in safer hands! They also pride themselves on the food served aboard, with a delicious Tapas style lunch, endless Tea or Coffee, cake and biscuits included in the price. They certainly won’t leave you going hungry!

Whether you’re a seasoned solo sailor or a family looking to do something a bit different with your weekend, Our Daddy can cater for all ages and abilities.

Once departed, why not stay in Brixham and enjoy the rest of the weekend on land with much merriment and plenty of live music.

Our Daddy

Guest berths: 6 Rig: Lugger

Built in Looe in 1921, Our Daddy was the last fishing lugger built of its type. Since leaving her fishing roots behind and becoming a charter vessel in the 1970s, she has since been renovated again and her rich history realised in 2017 when she was awarded a place on the very prestigious National Historic Ships register and awarded regional flagship of the year.

Now based in the lovely seaside town of Dartmouth, Devon, Our Daddy is proudly owned by friends Tim and Steve who operate her exclusively as a charter vessel; a much more relaxed approach than to her previous working life! Offering day experiences, long weekend or week-long charters, events and even some filming work, Our Daddy provides a perfect base if you want to learn more about life on the water or simply want to experience something new and relax aboard a ship full of maritime history.

From day sails out of her hometown along the Devon coast to a crossing over the English Channel to the Channel Islands and even France; you’ll be in safe hands with Skippers Tim and Steve who are both RYA instructors and have a wealth of knowledge and experience on the water. Not only just a sailing experience, holidays on Our Daddy offer views of unique coastlines, abundant wildlife, and excellent food all included in the price.

Tim and Steve look forward to welcoming you aboard Our Daddy and hope you enjoy the experience of sailing aboard this boat of Cornish Fishing history.
