Sail with Oosterschelde as journeys South to Brittany ready to begin the Brest Maritime Festival.
Joining in Scheveningen in the Netherlands, we will set the sails and begin the watch system. The watches are divided, and everyone is invited to help navigate, steer, trim the sails and maintain the ropes. There is also enough time to read a book or stare at the horizon and the waves. The Oosterschelde offers the opportunity for guests to experience this sailing voyage just the way you like.
There is enough time for stops along the way on this voyage and we may call into the French harbour of Fécamp where there will be a small but sweet maritime festival happening. If we make good time under sail, we might make another stop on the northside of Brittany, in L’Aber Wrac’h.
If the sea is calm, we might be able to sail via ‘Canal du Four’ to the bay of Brest. The ‘Canal du Four’ is a small strait along the Brittany coast, that is infamous for strong current and famous lighthouses. On the south side of the bay, there is a small fishermen’s village called Camaret-Sur-Mer and it would be perfect for a shore visit with a beautiful walking route along the coast. On the last night we will arrive in Brest and the next day after breakfast it is time to say goodbye to Oosterschelde and her crew.
Depending on wind and weather conditions the travel plan could be altered, however, we always try to sail as much as possible. It is not mandatory, but we invite everyone to participate in the watches and to help sail, steer and navigate the ship.
Your ticket price includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and hot drinks. Soft drinks and alcohol can be purchased from the onboard bar. Any food purchased ashore is at your own cost.
All towels and bedding are included in the price although Oosterschelde does ask guests to bring an extra swimming towel. At the end of your trip you can pay your bar tab in either in Euros or Sterling. We do not take card.
