Join Rhea for Christmas as she sails her way South through the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. Spend the festive season relaxing in the Caribbean sunshine in the luxury and comfort of yacht Rhea with 8 days sailing and exploring these beautiful turquoise waters, island hopping your way from Martinique down to Grenada.
Your holiday will begin on the rugged and volcanic Caribbean island of Martinique. An overseas region of France, with its culture reflecting a lovely blend of French and West Indian influence. The sand on the beaches in the north is a silvery grey as a result of the historic volcanic ash. The south of the island, however, is home to the iconic white sands with Fort-de-France its largest town, featuring steep hills and quaint narrow streets and the gardens of La Savane bordered by shops and cafes. Sail onto the island of St Lucia, a true Caribbean paradise. If the weather is fair, Rhea will anchor in the beautiful Piton Bay with views of the Piton themselves. Volcanic spires that rise out of the water almost vertically, they are one of the most spectacular landmarks of St Lucia.
Onto St Vincent and the Grenadines, a southern Caribbean nation comprising the main island, St. Vincent and a chain of smaller idyllic islands. With azure blue harbours, chic private isles and volcanic landscapes, the Grenadines are made of islands such as reef-lined Bequia Island, the celebrity island of Mustique and the snorkelling paradise in the colourful underwater world of Tobago Cays. Seemingly untouched by tourist exploitation, these islands offer white sandy beaches on deserted islands, crystal clear waters gently rolling the shores, refreshing waterfalls to explore and great walking trails throughout.
Toward the end of your week, you will aim for the island of Carriacou belonging to Grenada. It’s known for its coral reefs and clear shallow waters – another perfect swimming and snorkelling spot! Sandy beaches include horseshoe-shaped Tyrell Bay Beach, where traditional colourful Caribbean boats built in the 1800s dot the shoreline. Carriacou Museum located in an old cotton mill features exhibitions on the island’s interesting African, French and British history.
Your final destination is St Georges Bay on the main island of Grenada. A horse-shoe shaped harbour is surrounded by a hillside of an old volcano crater, providing a beautiful scenic backdrop.
The beauty of being on a ship in these breathtaking islands is that we can take you to the unspoilt, authentic Caribbean, away from the busy resorts and beaches. Experience true Caribbean culture, from small fishing villages to lively, colourful carnivals. The crew will aim to give you time to explore the islands as you wish, finding harbours to berth at and secluded bays to anchor in. Feel the sand between your toes, soak up the wonderfully colourful Caribbean culture, snorkel with the fantastic marine life or simply kick back and relax on the beach.  Dive from the boat and swim in the turquoise blue waters, and make use of Rhea’s onboard watersports equipment!
Wildlife in the Caribbean is a real treat. Spot graceful Green and Loggerhead Sea Turtles gliding effortlessly through the water and Bottlenose Dolphins swimming with the wake of the bow. Whales also frequent the Caribbean sea, with the warm water providing the perfect breeding grounds at this time of year for the humpback whale. Birdlife in the Caribbean is an incredibly beautiful sight. Keep your binoculars at the ready to spot these colourful delights. With species only native to the Caribbean, these are once in a lifetime encounters! Pink Flamingoes are also a common bird across the Caribbean islands; these sociable creatures inhabit the blue lagoons, mudflats and lakes, living in colonies that can contain thousands of individuals.
Rhea offers daily cabin service, a rich breakfast buffet, a light 2-course lunch at noon, coffee, tea and cake in the afternoon, and a 3-course dinner in the evening. Upon arrival, you will receive a welcome drink and on the last evening, the Captain’s Dinner will be served. One evening a week, all guests eat at their own expense on land to get to know the local cuisine.
With Rhea as your base, great food included and some beautiful bucket list locations; this is a festive holiday experience of a lifetime and one not to be missed!
*Please note that an exact itinerary cannot be guaranteed due to the changing winds and tides but rest assured Rhea will show you the true magic of the Caribbean.
