Channel Island Crossing

Join Polly Agatha in the Solent and sail with her as she crosses the English Channel over to the Channel Islands. This crossing is about 80 miles and is a really good opportunity to experience a longer sailing passage onboard a truly comfortable sailing yacht.

The Channel Islands are situated off Brittany on the north coast of France and are a popular sailing destination, offering favourable sailing winds and beautiful harbour stops.

After the channel crossing your first stop, as long as the winds and tides permit, will be the small isle of Alderney. Alderney is the smallest island of the Channel Island archipelago and offers visitors beautiful beaches, sheltered coves and a relaxed friendly local atmosphere. A pit stop and breeding ground for the migratory Storm Petrel, this island is teeming with birdlife and is even home of the very rare, blonde hedgehog.

Polly’s aim is to reach the island of Guernsey by Saturday to harbour up and give you the afternoon and evening to explore your final destination of St Peter’s Port, the capital of Guernsey. This beautiful harbour town is the perfect place to explore, relax and unwind after a few days sailing. Explore its sweet cobbled streets, Roman-esque squares bustling with cafes and quaint boutiques or even visit it’s 800-year-old castle. Castle Cornet grandly guards the entrance to the marina, providing a picturesque backdrop to this bustling harbour town. Visit one of its five museums and explore it’s historic gardens, before sitting back to admire the view.
