Solent Cruising Polly

Set sail from Gosport for four days exploring the Solent on Polly Agatha.

The Solent is the strait of sea that separates the Isle of Wight from the mainland of England. Much of its coastline is designated as a Special Area of Conservation and it is bordered by protected landscapes such the New Forest National Park, and the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the Isle of wight. This is a beautiful part of England to sail in and is popular with sailors and recreational watersports enthusiasts.

Opposite Gosport is Portsmouth. A port city and naval base on England’s south coast and is known for its rich maritime heritage and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Home to the interactive National Museum of the Royal Navy, the wooden warship HMS Victory and the Tudor ship Mary Rose, who is also conserved in a dockyard museum. You couldn’t be a more apt location to join a sailing holiday!

As with all our sailing holidays, there is no set itinerary and your journey will be dictated by the weather and tides but will you see you sailing along the Solent, anchoring and harbouring at coastal towns and picturesque bays along the way. The Skipper is always open to guests suggestion as far as the weather allows.

Perhaps stopover on the Isle of Wight along Hamstead Heritage Coast, an area of soft cliff lines, woodland walks and picturesque creeks. Or harbour in the traditional seaside towns of Yarmouth or Ryde.

Lymington on the mainland is also a great place to stop if you get the chance. This quaint town is full of cobbled streets and narrow lanes with the New Forest as its backdrop.

As this is an active adventure holiday, we advise that everyone has the appropriate personal accident travel insurance whilst onboard in addition to standard travel insurance which would cover you in the time between making your booking and departing for your adventure.
