Spend five days sailing and exploring the Channel Islands with Pilot Cutter Polly Agatha as you begin your sailing holiday on the island of Guernsey.
Starting in Guernsey’s capital of St Peter’s Port is a lovely way to begin your sailing holiday. This sweet waterside town has been voted as one of Europes prettiest harbours and has even won the RHS Britain in Bloom award – not surprisingly the island is well known for its flower growing. Away from the capital and on the surrounding coasts, traditional villages dot the landscape as locals wander with a truly relaxed island vibe. Narrows lanes and deserted beaches boast an abundance of history from Castles to Iron Age Forts to carved standing stones.
As with all our sailing holidays, there is no set itinerary and your journey will be dictated by the weather and tides. The tides here are a fascinating event to watch with the Channel Islands seeing one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, with ranges up to 12m. Mark, the skipper used to live on Guernsey so knows these island and sailing grounds well and all the best bits to explore.
The Skipper aims to have a balance of great sailing with enough time for plenty of island exploration aiming to reach the islands of Herm, Sark and perhaps even Jersey or Alderney. Anchor in secluded bays with deserted beaches all to yourself and if the sunshine delivers the Channel Islands promise of being the sunniest part of the British Isles, perhaps even enjoy a BBQ on the beach!
Read more about the Channel Islands and what each island has to offer here.
Your journey will finish back where you started on Guerney with 800year old Castle Cornet a familiar sight on the horizon for approaching sailors and well worth a visit.
All meals and hot/soft drinks are included in your ticket price apart from one meal ashore per trip that is not included.
