Join Agnes in Falmouth, Cornwall for an exhilarating five days sailing and racing along the Cornish coast. Agnes will be racing alongside her sister, newly built Pellew, where she will put her sails and speed to the test to compete for the trophy cup!
This sailing voyage is not for the faint-hearted. Racing with Agnes requires a dedicated guest as you sail her from the meeting point of Falmouth and up to Fowey before beginning the race back down to St.Mawes. The evenings are a much more relaxed affair as we raft up with the other boats, have a BBQ and chat over the days sailing events with the other crews.
ITINERARY (please note due to changeable winds and tides, these are guidelines only)
Wednesday and Thursday will see some “warm-up” sailing as you sail with Agnes from Falmouth to the race start point in Fowey. A designated Pilot Cutter normally throws open their doors and hosts the first night of festivities.
On Friday morning, Agnes will get set for the race at 10 am and join the parade of sail out of Fowey. As the race begins to St Mawes, this is where the fun starts. These powerful boats sailing down the coast is a truly amazing sight. An estimated arrival into St Mawes will be about 2 pm where from then you can rest, wander and explore being once again joining the evenings’ festivities.
Saturday has two races, one at 10 am and one at 2 pm from two of St Mawes outer harbour limit buoys in a staggered pursuit race with one course in the Carrick Roads or out into Falmouth Bay. In the evening we will anchor in the beautiful River Fal, have a BBQ and share stories from the day.
Sunday sees the last Race from two of St Mawes outer harbour limit buoys in a staggered pursuit race with one course in the Carrick Roads or out into Falmouth Bay. The final evening sees that last social event with prize giving being awarded to the winners of the races!
Every night is a social feast with chances to exchange experiences and sailing stories. Believe it or not, no previous experience of sailing is necessary as you will have time to get to know Agnes before racing starts. You will find yourselves enriched by getting involved in the pulling of ropes, taking the helm and handling of sail. Although racing is involved, this is primarily a fun, social event, and open to all. If you have friends and family who wish to watch, then St Mawes Castle is a good place to take in the action as a spectator.
Your ticket price includes entry to all social events and food onboard for the duration of the trip.
There are currently no voyages scheduled. Please get in touch with the VentureSail team to find out what’s available, or if other upcoming voyages might be suitable.
