Head out across the channel with Johanna Lucretia and sail from Falmouth to Douarnenez Maritime Festival for a summer highlight of sails, music and dance.
Join in the historic seafarers port of Falmouth where Johanna Lucretia’s crew will encourage you to get involved with all aspects of sailing this magical ship. Hoist the sails and leave Cornwall astern on a southerly course to Brittany.
The channel crossing will involve one night at sea before arriving on foreign shores. Once we reach the French coastline, we will be filling up on fresh mussels and crab, local delicacy Kouign Amman and Far Breton for fantastic dinners aboard.
We will sail into the port of Douarnenez with hundreds of vessels converging from all corners of Europe and the world, making an exciting and truly unforgettable start to the festival – be part of it.
Festival Temps Fête, Douarnenez begins on July 25th, and is a haven for traditional wooden ship lovers. It also attracts an array of photographers and artists who want to immerse themselves within working boats and the beauty of Douarnenez and its two ports. Whilst one is the old fishing port, Rosmeur, there is another with wooden wharves lined with harbour-side bars and restaurants in the medieval town. Douarnenez Festival also offers plenty of races, sailing re-enactments and other activities on the water. The cobbled streets are perfect to explore the music, local shops and cuisine whilst reminiscing of a time when the wooden boats provided the town with trade as they docked in the port.
After you have experienced the music and magic of Douarnenez, Johanna will begin her journey back out of the deep bay homewards across the channel under sail.

The Johanna Lucretia is a two masted topsail schooner, built in Belgium in 1945. After two recent refits, this ship has the latest technology and provides a sound, comfortable voyage wherever you choose to go. She has been all over the world with a couple of different owners, from Gibraltar to the Caribbean to the East coast of the USA. Now, she sails mostly European waters, and will be found cruising around the Cornish coast during summer. With 14 berths in the form of comfortable double and twin cabins, Johanna Lucretia provides the utmost comfort while retaining her traditional nautical feel, thanks to the well cared for wooden interior below deck.
Join skipper Rodger Barton and his crew for several long weekends throughout the summer, where you will experience the quieter side of the Cornish summer via tall ship. Visit Poldark’s filming locations, secluded coves and traditional fishing villages, all while harnessing the wind to take in the dramatic Cornish coast.
