Setting sail from Dartmouth, Our Daddy will set sail for Falmouth Classics and Sea Shanty Festival for a week of sailing, sea faring and shanty singing!
Set sail aboard Our Daddy from Dartmouth, making your way down the beautiful South Coast to reach Falmouth, Cornwall for its classic sailing and shanty weekend.
The voyage will take you west along the English coast, passing Blackpool and Slapton Sands before reaching Salcombe and Plymouth. You might stop at any of these harbour towns, with time to go ashore and explore. Passing Plymouth, Our Daddy will begin her journey down the Cornish coast – (watch out for Poldark being filmed in the pretty fishing town of Charlestown!). As Our Daddy sails past Mevagissey, she will be sailing around the Roseland Peninsula with its hidden coves and sheltered beaches. Be sure to keep the binoculars close; with porpoises and dolphins often playing in the ships’ wake, keep your eyes on the water as well as the land for the native seabirds – guillemots, kittiwakes, kestrels and gulls.
Falmouth Classics began in the early 1980s and has since become one of Falmouth’s most popular weekends. Attracting people from all over the world, traditional and classic ships arrive to race in the mouth of the River Fal, Carrick Roads and the beautiful Falmouth Bay. From classic yachts to traditional luggers – the harbour is filled with beautiful boats, exhilarating races and a fascinating parade of sail. See Falmouth Classics for its sailing programme.
Onshore in Falmouth town you’ll be entertained on every street corner and pub as the International Sea Shanty Festival takes place alongside Falmouth Classics. Sing along with over 62 musical groups from shores far and wide in over 20 venues around the town. With plenty of ale and rum to quench your thirst, you’ll soon feel compelled to join in with these traditional songs from seafarers of old! See Falmouth Sea Shanty for more information and the weekends’ itinerary.
The excitement is undeniably best seen from the water, however, the atmosphere in the town is not to be missed either. With pop-up maritime stalls, traditional Cornish pubs and cobbled streets; Falmouth will be a great place to soak up the passion for sailing that is so prevalent in the town.
The itinerary is fairly flexible with the wind always having the final say! But upon arrival to Falmouth, the choice is yours on Friday and/or the Saturday for whether you want to soak up the atmosphere of the town for the day or join Our Daddy as she sails and explores the River Fal, providing the perfect vantage point for observing the flotilla of classic boats. Sunday will see Our Daddy sail with the Parade of Sail out into Carrick Waters and then continue to start her way back home towards Dartmouth.
As with all of Our Daddy’s sailing holidays, your ticket price includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Soft Drinks. It is expected that guests will eat at least one meal ashore to really appreciate the festival cuisine. There are six berths in the shared fore cabin with a shower and toilet located off the saloon area. All cabins have bedding and towels provided.

Guest berths: 6 Rig: Lugger
Built in Looe in 1921, Our Daddy was the last fishing lugger built of its type. Since leaving her fishing roots behind and becoming a charter vessel in the 1970s, she has since been renovated again and her rich history realised in 2017 when she was awarded a place on the very prestigious National Historic Ships register and awarded regional flagship of the year.
Now based in the lovely seaside town of Dartmouth, Devon, Our Daddy is proudly owned by friends Tim and Steve who operate her exclusively as a charter vessel; a much more relaxed approach than to her previous working life! Offering day experiences, long weekend or week-long charters, events and even some filming work, Our Daddy provides a perfect base if you want to learn more about life on the water or simply want to experience something new and relax aboard a ship full of maritime history.
From day sails out of her hometown along the Devon coast to a crossing over the English Channel to the Channel Islands and even France; you’ll be in safe hands with Skippers Tim and Steve who are both RYA instructors and have a wealth of knowledge and experience on the water. Not only just a sailing experience, holidays on Our Daddy offer views of unique coastlines, abundant wildlife, and excellent food all included in the price.
Tim and Steve look forward to welcoming you aboard Our Daddy and hope you enjoy the experience of sailing aboard this boat of Cornish Fishing history.
