Your Sailing Area
Saronic Islands, Greece
With easy access from the mainland airport of Athens, Zorba will set the sails and head straight for the Saronic Islands as you spend the next week under sail, discovering all the islands offer. Your route will entirely depend on the wind and weather and also the feeling of all the guests onboard.
There ar a plethora of uninhabited islands that make for great remote escapes off the beaten track and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The archipelago also consists of the main islands that are inhabited by Salamis, Aegina, Agistri, and Poros. The islands of Hydra and Dokos are also sometimes included in this archipelago.
From afternoon anchorages on remote islands perfectly lined with crystal coves for swimming and snorkelling to the very best, tried and tested tavernas on the main islands, there won’t be time to see it all, and you’ll be longing to return before you’ve even stepped foot off the boat.

Greek Island Highlights
The UNESCO heritage site of the ancient theatre in Epidavros is located on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese and is a must-visit for many. The ancient theatre is known for its incredible acoustics and well-preserved architecture from the 4th century BC. The site also includes the ruins of the Sanctuary of Asclepius, a healing centre dedicated to the god of medicine. The bay that Zorba anchors in is also home to the sunken city of Epidavros where you can snorkel in shallow water over the old foundations, artefacts and pottery.
The island of Aegina is known for its architectural wonders, ancient city, and the Temple of Aphaia, which is impressively built on a hill. The island is famous for its pistachios and is often referred to as Pistachio Island. Aegina’s rich history and beautiful landscape make it a must-visit destination in the Saronic Islands. Wander the sleepy backstreets, relax in a waterfront bar and explore the boutique shops full of local makers. The small fishing village of Perdika sits on the east side of Aegina, and Aga and Greg think this is where you can find the nicest people in the world!
The Saronic showpiece has to be Hydra, with its ancient port carefully lined with well-preserved stone houses rising from a chic, history-charged harbour. Known as the jewel of the Saronic, Hydra has no car traffic, so donkeys are the best way to get around!
The Temple of Poseidon is on the southerly point of mainland Greece and is worth the sail over as it towers over the anchorage with an impressive view. Perched on the edge of the Aegean Sea, it is a must-visit destination for those exploring the rich cultural heritage of Greece.
This sailing holiday in Greece is one of pure relaxation and fun for you and your friends and family. Zorba offers a range of voyages, either bookable by the berth for individuals or as a whole boat charter. Please see the date drop-down to see what ticket options are available. More about ZorbaLife on board
Sailing with Zorba in Greece is one that will leave long-lasting memories and will more than likely see you longing to return. A modern Beneteau Cyclades 50.5, Zorba is owned and managed by couple Aga and Greg who share a real passion for Greece both from the water and on the land. Comfortable, relaxed and offering an abundance of sunshine sailing, Zorba is the perfect monohull sailing yacht to show guests a truly authentic sailing holiday in Greece.
A typical Day
After a relaxed breakfast, spend a few hours sailing before anchoring up in crystal clear waters to explore historical ruins ashore, sunbathe or snorkel away the afternoon. Hoist the sails again to find a new spot for the night before enjoying dinner ashore in a traditional Greek Taverna, specially hand-picked by your hosts.
Getting involved
Your sailing holiday in Greece is truly as you make it. Zorba is a fun and simple boat to sail and can be sailed by the skipper alone if guests prefer a more relaxing experience. That being said, the larger Saronic Gulf gives some great winds for sailing for those wanting to learn the ropes in a safe and supported environment. The skipper has many years of experience sailing here, so he loves to share his knowledge and skills with guests. From knot tying to basic navigation, taking the helm and reading the local charts, guests are welcome to get involved as much or as little as they’d like.
The price reflects the half-board nature of this holiday. Breakfast and lunch are included, but you will dine out in traditional tavernas for your evening meals. There is board cash payable upon arrival that covers fuel, marina fees, water, cleaning fees and some provisioning per person. This is reflected in the ticket price advertised and is based purely on the economics of Greece, which is still such a cash-based society.

GETTING THERE
Aegina, Saronic Islands, Greece
BY AIR
Flights go direct to Athens International Airport from London Standsted with Ryanair, and London Gatwick with Wizz Air, British Airways and easyJet. You’ll then need to take a taxi from the airport to Piraeus port and take a ferry to Aegina port, which takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour.
and then by Ferry…
There are many different ferry options which run throughout the day, please use Ferry Scanner to find timetables. We recommend guests to pre-book tickets (this will still require picking up a physical ticket from the kiosk on the front) as peak times can be busy.
(The Flying Dolphin and/or Hellenic offer a faster transfer than the larger Blue Star Ferry. )
Zorba’s crew can assist you in arranging an airport/hotel transfer to take you to the Pireaus (this is not included in the ticket price but they have a good local contact) Please contact Aga the week before your voyage if you need this service.
Depending on berth availability, Zorba Cat will either be in Aegina port (a 2-minute walk from the ferry) or Perdika (just along the coast). If the boat is in Perdika, Aga will arrange for a taxi to pick you up at Aegina port and take you to Perdika.
