Join Eye of the Wind in the Swedish coastal city of Malmö is your Scandinavian sailing holiday. Malmö lies at the eastern end of the striking Öresund Bridge, a long road and railway bridge–tunnel running to Copenhagen, Denmark. In the city centre, Lilla Torg is a cobblestone square with cafes, half-timbered houses and shops selling local handicrafts. Malmö Castle, a 16th-century fortress built by King Christian III of Denmark, houses nature, history and art exhibits.
From here you will sail through the Danish Straits of Kattegat, anchoring and exploring the coastline and its islands. This trip is a great way to get a taste of seafaring adventure: at this time of the year, only low waves and moderate wind speeds are to be expected in the Baltic Sea. We guarantee plenty of fresh sea air, on-board comfort, delicious food from our excellent onboard kitchen and genuine traditional seamanship.
After receiving safety instructions and an introduction to sailing from the ship’s crew, you will soon be able to take part in sailing yourself. Hands-on assistance on deck is always voluntary, so if you want, you can just relax and enjoy watching the sailing manoeuvers and the traditional seamanship in action every day. If you like, you can make yourself comfortable below deck in the comfortable lounge, browse through a good book from the large onboard library, or see which DVDs are available.
The decision on which port or anchorage to call on in the evening is made by the captain on the same day and depends on the wind and weather conditions – whenever possible, your wishes will be taken into account. This ensures that your sailing trip is a pleasant mixture of adventure, relaxation, active participation and pure enjoyment. Look forward to some wonderful days of sailing on the summery and brisk Baltic Sea. Weather permitting, we will have the opportunity to sail out of the harbour in the evening and sail at night – another highlight of every cruise.
Your final destination is the Danish town of Aarhus. This is where our Scandinavian sailing adventure ends and you will bid farewell to our crew and your fellow sailors. Relaxing days with windswept sails on the ship’s deck now lie behind you.
