Sail with Eye of the wind as she spends nine days sailing from the North of Spain, along the coast of Portugal before crossing borders once again to finish her voyage in the southern Spanish town of Cadiz.
After receiving safety instructions and an introduction to sailing from the ship’s crew, you will soon be able to take part in sailing yourself. Hands-on assistance on deck is always voluntary, so if you want, you can just relax and enjoy watching the sailing manoeuvers and the traditional seamanship in action every day. If you like, you can make yourself comfortable below deck in the comfortable lounge, browse through a good book from the large onboard library, or see which DVDs are available
Joining in the Spanish town of La Coruña, it’s history is closely connected with its historic fishing and trading port, and the peninsula on which the historic part of town is situated is home to an interesting Romanesque road network with squares and medieval churches as well as the Hercules Tower, the oldest lighthouse in the world. The Museum of Fine Arts, with works by Goya and others on display, is also worth a visit.
The decision on which port or anchorage to call on in the evening is made by the captain on the same day and depends on the wind and weather conditions – whenever possible, your wishes will be taken into account. This ensures that your sailing trip is a pleasant mixture of adventure, relaxation, active participation and pure enjoyment. Weather permitting, we will have the opportunity to sail out of the harbour in the evening and sail at night – another highlight of every cruise.
Your final port of call will be the southern Spanish town of Cadiz in the Andalucia region. The home of the Spanish Navy, it has more than 100 watchtowers, including the iconic Torre Tavira, which was traditionally used for spotting ships. On the waterfront is the domed, 18th-century CĂ¡diz Cathedral, featuring baroque and neoclassical elements – a lovely sight to end your sailing holiday.
Here you have another opportunity to reminisce with your fellow sailors about the adventures of the past days at sea, or maybe to ‘spin a little sailor’s yarn’. Our crew on board will keep you in good memory, and you will most certainly enjoy sharing your experiences with friends ‘onshore’.
