Begin your holiday in the traditional fishing port of Vigo, home to Europe’s largest fishing fleet. An industrious port on the one hand but traditionally and culturally Spanish one on the other. Wander the old city walls and soak up the historic Spanish architecture, old tavernas and traditional tapas bars before boarding classic tallship Bessie Ellen.

Sail and explore the beautiful archipelago of Iles Cies situated in the mouth of the River Vigo and now a designated National Park teeming with birdlife. Anchor in its picturesque sheltered coves and swim in its glistening clear waters to the stretches of sandy white beaches. Follow the walking trails as they meander higher amongst the tree before reaching Mount Faro – a fabulous point offering spectacular panoramic views. Famous for its seafood and fresh produce, be sure that Bessie Ellens onboard chef will definitely make the most of this coastline’s rich offerings.

The time at sea is yours to make your own and guests are invited to become as involved as much as they like by taking the wheel, navigating or hauling the ropes. Alternatively, just sit back, relax and soak up the Spanish sunshine and enjoy the views!

There is no set itinerary as with all of Bessie Ellen’s voyages she will sail where the wind takes her. Your holiday will see you anchor in hidden coves along this beautiful coastline with plenty of opportunities to climb ashore and explore. You may visit towns such as Muros. A seafront town lined with ancient granite-paved streets, traditional Spanish markets and bustling taverns. Perhaps even visit the ancient Spanish city of Santiago de Compostella. The capital of the Galicia region and a short bus ride from the coast if you don’t have time to walk the pilgrim’s trail. Wander the streets within the walls of this old medieval city, revelling in its history and elaborately carved stone architecture opening onto grand plazas.

As with all Bessie Ellen’s sailing holidays, your ticket price includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Drinks. Curtained bunk berths are int he spacious shared open saloon below decks with bedding provided – you just need to bring your own towel.
