Climb aboard Cherokee in the traditional Spanish fishing port of Vigo, still home to Europe’s largest fishing fleet. An industrious port on the one hand but a traditionally and culturally Spanish one on the other.

Explore the port of Vigo and wander the old city walls whilst soak up the historic Spanish architecture, old tavernas and traditional tapas bars. Sail onto Vigo’s pride and joy – the beautiful Iles Cies. An archipelago situated in the mouth of the River Vigo and now a designated National Park teeming with birdlife. Anchor in its picturesque sheltered coves and swim in its glistening clear waters to the stretches of sandy white beaches. Follow the walking trails as they meander higher amongst the tree before reaching Mount Faro – a fabulous point offering spectacular panoramic views.

There is no set itinerary for your sailing holiday as Cherokee will sail where the wind and tides permit but you will anchor at traditional Spanish harbour towns and secluded bays as you work your way down the coast crossing the Portuguese border. Explore seafront towns lined with ancient granite-paved streets, traditional markets and bustling tavernas. Walk secluded coastlines and discover coves and beaches away from the tourist’s eye. Wander streets within walls of old medieval cities, revelling in Roman history with elaborately carved stone architecture opening onto grand plazas.

Your final destination of Porto is a coastal city located in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and tawny port production. Narrow cobbled streets tumble down the hillside and a wonderful mix of traditional and modern architecture blends with merchants’ houses, bell towers, extravagant baroque churches and stately beaux-arts buildings.

The time at sea is yours to make your own and guests are invited to become as involved as much as they like – take the helm and hoist the sails and sit back, relax and soak up the Spanish sunshine and enjoy the views!
