Leaving from Our Daddy’s home port of Dartmouth, this historic Looe lugger will sail down to the Cornish harbour of Charlestown to take part in a Poldark extravaganza maritime film festival.
Our Daddy’s hometown of Dartmouth is a beautifully picturesque harbour town, so make sure you allow a little time before boarding to wander through the narrow streets and discover what it’s got to offer. Once you’ve found your sea legs, help the crew set the sails for the equally picturesque harbour town of Charlestown, now famous for being the home of hit BBC drama, POLDARK!
There is plenty of history along this coastline as you sail past Slapton Sands, the site of the D Day Exercise Tiger – a fateful day for British Troops. In 1944 this was the scene of the infamous Exercise Tiger, involving 30,000 troops, a D Day rehearsal that unfortunately went badly wrong. A combination of an attack by German E-boats and miss timed friendly fire resulted in the loss of 946 men. Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve sits behind Slapton Sands and is the largest freshwater lake in the South West and home to both native and migrating birds.
Anchor in the Charlestown Bay for lunch on Friday and watch as the classic boats congregate before the harbour open their gates in the evening to reach your final destination of Charlestown.
Don’t forget to watch for harbour porpoise, dolphins, common grey seal as well as cormorants, guillemots and gannets as you journey along the coast!
All food and soft drinks are included in your ticket price.
