Luxury Charter Sailing in Sardinia
The coastal city of Olbia sits in northeast Sardinia and its balmy palm-lined waterfront is a beautiful marina to join luxury catamaran Agave. Olbia airport is a short taxi ride away, so if you arrive early there are plenty of cafes dotted through the beautiful medieval piazzas to explore. Agave can sleep 8 guests (7 if you want to include a wellness guide!) in spacious double ensuite cabins. Unlike some bareboat charter options in the Mediterranean, Agave comes fully crewed with skipper Vincent and his partner and host, Vallery.
When taking luxury catamaran for private skippered charter, the choice of where to sail can be discussed with skipper Vincent and decided alongside his local knowledge, guests wishes and of course the weather! One thing is for sure, luxury paradise sailing is certainly on the cards as you explore the stunning La Maddelena archipelago under sail.
Where the wind takes you…
Dine in the beautiful bay of Porto San Paolo, spend the night on anchor before an early start to explore the impressive neighbouring island of Tavolara. This touring limestone island is the perfect backdrop for your first meditation session on deck before spending some time exploring the island’s natural beauty.Â
Head north up the coast towards the famous Golfo Pevero. This traditional Sardinian harbour town has some unique dining experiences with some of the freshest seafood and traditional pasta dishes. Enjoy an early morning yoga session (optional!) on the beach before the tourists start to arrive and we retreat back to the tranquility of the boat and set the sails for the protected Maddalena archipelago.Â
La Maddalena archipelago
Known for its outstanding natural beauty and crystal clear waters, it’s often referred to as the Pearl of the Mediterranean. La Maddalena is a tranquil archipelago of outstanding natural beauty with turquoise lagoons, secret coves and deserted islands. Hundreds of quiet bays framed with limestone cliffs are home to some of Sardinia’s best beaches and some of the best clear water swimming you’ll find in the Mediterranean.Â
Spend some time here soaking in the natural landscape as you explore ashore by foot and enjoy the boat’s SUP’s on the water. Take a walk through the rugged terrain to discover the diverse flora and fauna of Caprera island reaching a breath-taking view point across the bay. After a day of exploring the islands, Agave will visit a sweet marina called Porto Pozzo which is known for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants, probably caught that very morning! There are many picturesque bays to anchor in across the archipelago providing breath-taking backdrops for Agave’s wellness sailing.Â
The infamous Strait of Bonifacio
The voyage itinerary will largely be dictated by when Agave can make the sailing across the Strait of Bonifacio. Skipper Vincent will know more about the wind forecast about a week before you join and what weather window will ensure the smoothest crossing. Visiting the harbour Bonifacio by boat has to be one of the highlights of this voyage and it’s tipped to be one of the most impressive marina entrances in the world. The stunning white limestone cliffs against the deep turquoise sea is a breath-taking sight.
Explore the island’s rich history, culture and natural beauty. Bonifacio is known for its medieval citadel, old town and picturesque beaches. Be prepared for some serious Game of Thrones vibes!
Corsica
The island of Corsica is the fourth largest in the Mediterranean Sea, home to craggy peaks, dense forest and mountainous hiking trails. The south coast of the island makes for some fascinating sailing exploration with impressive rolling rock formations and idyllic smaller islands providing amazing snorkelling spots. Spend some time here exploring the coast, swimming and soaking in the natural landscape with some afternoon meditation sessions.
Agave
Guest berths: 8 Rig: Lagoon 42
The first Catamaran to join our fleet, Agave is offering guests luxury wellness sailing in Sardinia. Built only last year, Agave is the newest yacht to our fleet with spacious and modern interiors. She combines the very best of Mediterranean sailing with a luxury wellness experience hosted by both the skippers and a specialist guide.
With two hulls, catamarans are renowned for stable, smooth sailing, reducing the chance of sea sickness and maximising the sailing opportunities in various wind directions. The Lagoon 42 is one of the fastest luxury catamarans on the market making Agave a joy to sail and cruise along in.
Agave is skippered by Vincent and his partner Vallery. Both have a real passion for the water, health, well-being and nutrition making Agave’s voyages the perfect balance of smooth sailing and luxury relaxation in one of the most picturesque locations in the Mediterranean Sea.
BELOW DECKS
The saloon sits between the two hulls at deck level and with a spacious galley and saloon area, it’s certainly the heart of the boat. Sliding doors open directly onto a comfortable outdoor seating area, perfect for alfresco lunches. There’s also plenty of space to lounge, sun-bathe and meditate at the front of the boat. Each hull has a dropped stepped transom making getting on and off the boat really easy.
Two sets of steps lead into each hull from the saloon with both offering two luxurious double en-suite cabins. The crew sleep in separate cabins in the fore of each hull so there’s plenty of space for its 8 guests!
