Cross the Atlantic ocean under sail on tall ship Blue Clipper as she sails from Bermuda to the Azores.

Join Schooner Blue Clipper on the island of Bermuda as she starts her journey back toward Europe for the summer. Bermuda is the perfect backdrop to join a tall ship. These string of islands are home to famous pink sandy beaches and balmy turquoise bays that are well known for their swimming pigs!

This is an ocean crossing under sail and is sure to be a dream for many but certainly not for the faint-hearted. The rhythm of the ocean and weather will determine life on board and determine the route of sail but the end destination will be the Azores. As you approach the islands, watch the exposed tips of vast underwater mountains rise on the horizon. The Azores is full of fumaroles, mud pots and hot springs; caverns, columns and grottoes formed from once molten rock. Blue lakes and forests of laurel and cedar line the mountains and green pastures pattern the slopes of calderas.

Your holiday on Blue Clipper will be an active expedition sailing holiday. Night sailing is a wondrous occasion and with no light pollution, you will see the night sky as you have never seen it before.

Believe it or not, you do not need any sailing experience. The professional and experienced crew will teach you everything you need to know as you will sail with and become part of the crew, hoisting sails, taking the helm and really getting involved with sailing a tall ship.

Work as part of a watch system, help to navigate the ocean, climb the rigging, mend a sail and get into the rhythm of ocean sailing.  Learn about Celestial navigation, gain skills in seamanship and learn to live on the ocean, at one with nature.

Blue Clipper

Guest berths: 20 Rig: Gaff Schooner

Built in Sweden in 1991, tall ship Blue Clipper is a three-masted gaff rig schooner. With a clipper bow, original teak deck and elegant stern, she mixes a traditional tall ship feel with a modern build giving guests an authentic experience with all the mod cons.

Originally owned by the Brandy company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessey, she appeared in many Tv programmes and commercials before being private bought in the late 90’s.

In 2016 she started her new life with her current owner and now spends her summers sailing Northern Europe and her winters chasing the Caribbean sunshine.
