On Course to the Canary Islands

Eye of the Wind’s crew will welcome you onboard at the port of Cádiz in the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. After embarking at 7 pm, there will be dinner together in the comfortable lounge, where you will soon feel at home and get to know your fellow sailors.

After receiving safety instructions and an introduction to sailing from the ship’s crew, you will soon be able to take part in sailing yourself. Hands-on assistance on deck is always voluntary, so if you want, you can just relax and enjoy watching the sailing manoeuvers and the traditional seamanship in action every day. If you like, you can make yourself comfortable below deck in the comfortable lounge, browse through a good book from the large onboard library, or see which DVDs are available.

Leaving Cádiz, Eye of the Wind will begin her 600 nautical mile journey south to the Canary Islands. Mooring may be possible before the ship reaches her final destination of Lanzarote, but this will depend on the wind and weather conditions.

The decision on which port or anchorage to call on in the evening is made by the captain on the same day and depends on the wind and weather conditions – whenever possible, your wishes will be taken into account. This ensures that your sailing trip is a pleasant mixture of adventure, relaxation, active participation and pure enjoyment. Weather permitting, we will have the opportunity to sail out of the harbour in the evening and sail at night – another highlight of every cruise.

As this is an active adventure holiday, we advise that everyone has the appropriate personal accident travel insurance whilst onboard in addition to standard travel insurance which would cover you in the time between making your booking and departing for your adventure. These policies can sometimes be combined so please check with your travel insurance provider.
