The Isles Of Scilly are situated just 28 miles off Lands End in Cornwall and are a world apart from the mainland England. What better way to travel to and explore this Caribbean-esque archipelago than aboard a classic yacht like Escape.

Take the opportunity to hop from island to island by boat, experiencing many astonishing natural wonders – puffins, seals, dolphins and a multitude of rare, and migrating birds – or just relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures; from beachcombing, barbecuing on deserted shores, swimming with seals , to watching the sunset and gazing at the stars.

From shipwrecks to treasure, burial chambers to deserted villages, the history of Scilly is utterly compelling – especially as it mingles so tantalisingly with modern-day life on the islands. Scilly’s tiny land mass is home to 239 scheduled monuments, which means there is a greater density of historical sites here than anywhere else in the British Isles.

Traces of human life on Scilly stretch back at least 3,000 years when the islands were one large land-mass that was home to nomadic hunter-gatherers. Their flint tools still sometimes turn up today, on beaches and in fields.

With their turquoise waters and glittering, fine sand, Scilly’s beaches are simply stunning – beautiful enough to rival any in the world. The Isles of Scilly also boasts a plethora of dramatic, rugged coastlines – steep rock faces and deep inlets caused by the continuous pounding of huge rollers coming in from the Atlantic Ocean and the site of many a great storm during the winter months. There are plentiful rocky coastal walks across landscapes often cloaked in heather and flowering gorse or with castle ruins atop a promontory. All enjoy sensational views. The aptly named Hell Bay at the northern end of Bryher springs to mind as an excellent vantage point, as does Peninnis Head on St. Mary’s.

Some visitors crave the deep sense of tradition here, immersing themselves in history and myth. Others come to enjoy the heightened creativity of island life through painting, photography or crafts. Many love to lose themselves in the sights and scents of the sub-tropical plants and flowers such as wild garlic and fennel that give Scilly its distinctive landscape. And you’ll soon discover that each island has it’s own personality and are worth exploring beyond their alluring coastal beauty.

FAQ

Are all meals included?
Yes, all meals on board are included in the price. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner and soft/hot drinks)
Can you cater for dietary needs?
Meat eaters and vegetarians only please
Are there any added extras?
There's an honesty bar for soft drinks and alcohol.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
Escape has two single berths (with privacy curtains) and one double bed for guests in an open cabin arrangement. There are seat berths available as extras for children/family bookings if necessary.
Is there a porthole in my berth?
The double cabin has a porthole and the saloon has a hatch window for the single berths.
How many toilet/showers does she have?
Escape has one toilet. She will harbour every evening to use yacht club showers that Andy will organise for you.
Are bedding and towels included?
All bedding and a towel is included but please bring your own swim towels (if needed). Micro-fibres are a great lightweight, quick-drying alternative.
Is there a hairdryer on board?
No, please do not bring one. The sea breeze makes a great natural alternative!
Will I be able to wash my clothes?
No, Escape does not have laundry on board.
Is there heating onboard?
Yes, there is a small diesel heater if needed.
Do I need to tip the crew?
Tips are not mandatory but are welcomed by the crew!
What language is spoken onboard?
English.
Is there WIFI?
No! It's time to disconnect from the modern tech and reconnect with nature! When within shore range, you should be able to reach 4/5G.
Can I charge my phone/Camera?
Yes, there are 12V USB cigarette lighter points available at all times. 240V standard socket charging is available when Escape is hooked up to shore power or when the generator is on.
What is the currency on board?
GBP - pounds sterling
Are there life jackets provided?
Yes - there are life jackets from toddler through to adult.
How do I get on and off the boat?
Escape is often at anchor so you'll need to be comfortable climbing in and out of the tender dinghy and climbing up and over the low gunwale.
Are Waterproofs provided?
Yes, Andy has some offshore jackets if needed.
Do I need sailing experience?
No, absolutely not! Just a lust for adventure.
Does the boat have any water toys?
No
Will I be sea sick?
Everyone reacts differently but we recommend if you are at all worried to take some medication 24 hours before departure.
Is there an age limit?
Ideally 5+ but this can depend on experience - please check in with the office.
