Explore the rolling hills and lochs of the Firth of Clyde under sail with tall ship Blue Clipper.

Join Blue Clipper on her 5-night voyage to explore the Firth of Clyde. There is a little of something for everyone on this voyage whiskey tasting, walking, history and magnificent scenery all from our classic tall ship.

Some of the places we may sail to visit include:

The Isle of Arran
Stop at the delightful anchorage Lochranza. From there, there are many things to do such as visit the Lochranza Distillery and Shieling Bistro, take a look at the ruined Lochranaza Castle (dating all the way back to the 1200s and take a walk through this picturesque bay and valley. There are also other opportunities to visit the beautiful stately house of Mount Stuart, do the Arrann Brewery Tour or visit the Machrie Moor Stone Circles. In addition to this, there options to sample some local cheeses and oatcakes at Broderick, walk along the Arran Coastal Way with the King’s cave or climb the highest peak on the island called Goat Fell.

The Isle of Bute
15 miles long and less than 2.5 miles wide at it’s the narrowest point. Bute is good for walking, the West Island Way runs the length of the island. There may be the exciting opportunity to be dropped off on one side of the island and then walk across to the other side, to then be picked up again by the tall ship! The long sandy beach at Ettrick bay is well worth a visit and call for cake at the busy tea room there. Bute also boasts a Victorian Gothic mansion at Rothesay (and a castle) and the Victorian Fernery at Ascog with its 1000-year-old King Fern.

Holy Loch
Known as the marine gateway to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is a beautiful sea loch with picturesque beaches and forest trails. On the north side of the loch, you can climb Kilmun Hill at 1262ft with amazing views across to the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. If you are looking for something more easy-going, then Benmore Botanical Gardens are well worth a visit with their Giant Sequoias trees in excess of 148ft tall.

As with all Blue Clipper’s sailing holidays, your ticket price includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Soft Drinks. There are six ensuite twin cabins and one six-berth cabin with a shared bathroom.  All cabins have bedding and towels provided.

Blue Clipper

Guest berths: 20 Rig: Gaff Schooner

Built-in Sweden in 1991, tall ship Blue Clipper is an impressive three-masted gaff rig schooner. With a clipper bow, original teak deck and elegant stern, she mixes a traditional tall ship feel with a relatively modern build giving guests an authentic experience with all the mod cons.

She has spent many years sailing all over the world from the Caribbean to the Arctic and is a frequent participant in the European Tall Ship regattas. Originally owned by the Brandy company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessey, she appeared in many Tv programmes and commercials before being private bought in the late 90’s.

On deck, she boasts ample space for her guests to become fully immersed in hands-on sailing; heaving the ropes, hoisting the sails, learning ropes skills and even taking the helm. She has 3 kayaks and 3 paddle-boards for guest use while on anchor so you can explore even further inshore.

A spacious saloon, wheelhouse and galley also sit at deck level while below decks has been well-considered with six ensuite cabins a family cabin that sleeps six. All cabins have a porthole for natural light and heating/air conditioning.

In 2016 she started her new life with her current owner and now spends her summers sailing Northern Europe and Scotland and the Hebrides and her winters chasing the Caribbean sunshine.
