This tall ship taster weekend is the perfect way to try out a sailing adventure. Never far from land, this weekend will give you a different view of the Cornish coastline as well as a taste of how to sail a classic ship.  Along with your fellow shipmates learn how these ships were handled for centuries as the crew teaches you the basics of traditional sailing. Cruise around beautiful sheltered bays in Cornwall while you try your hand at something new!

Setting sail from Fowey you might sail past Cannis Rock and Menabilly, where Rebecca, one of Daphne du Maurier most famous of stories was centered.Cruise on past Lantic bay and we may have time to set the topsails before a short visit to Polperro or Looe and finding an anchorage in a sheltered bay for the night.

After a day sailing or exploring some of Cornwall’s coves and harbours you’ll return to the ship for a fantastic meal prepared by the chef. Using the best of local ingredients he’ll create dishes such as local cod with chorizo or home-grown slow roast pork and can cater for any dietary requirements.

Your weekend aboard will also include a steady flow of hot drink, homemade cakes and possibly a  traditional cream tea (cream on top!) before you return to the berth on the river in Fowey on Sunday afternoon.

The Johanna Lucretia is a two masted topsail schooner, built in Belgium in 1945. After two recent refits, this ship has the latest technology and provides a sound, comfortable voyage wherever you choose to go. She has been all over the world with a couple of different owners, from Gibraltar to the Caribbean to the East coast of the USA. Now, she sails mostly European waters, and will be found cruising around the Cornish coast during summer 2017. With 14 berths in the form of comfortable double and twin cabins, Johanna Lucretia provides the utmost comfort while retaining her traditional nautical feel, thanks to the well cared for wooden interior below deck.

Join skipper Rodger Barton and his crew for several long weekends throughout the summer, where you will experience the quieter side of the Cornish summer via tall ship. Visit Poldark’s filming locations, secluded coves and traditional fishing villages, all while harnessing the wind to take in the dramatic Cornish coast.
