Luxury Wellness Sailing in Sardinia
Set sail from Olbia…
The coastal city of Olbia sits in northeast Sardinia and its balmy palm-lined waterfront is a beautiful marina to join luxury catamaran Agave. Olbia airport is a short taxi ride away, so if you arrive early there are plenty of cafes dotted through the beautiful medieval piazzas to explore.
Once you step aboard, prepare to set the sails on a journey to the stunning bay of Porto San Paolo, where our first Italian dinner awaits. Spend the night at anchor, and as the sun rises, get ready for an early start to explore the awe-inspiring neighbouring island of Tavolara. This majestic limestone island serves as the perfect backdrop for your first meditation session on deck, followed by an opportunity to immerse yourself in the island’s natural wonders.
A few hours under sail, Agave heads north towards the famous Golfo Pevero. This traditional Sardinian harbour town has some unique dining experiences with some of the freshest seafood and traditional pasta dishes. Enjoy an early morning yoga session (optional!) on the beach before the tourists start to arrive. Then, we retreat to the tranquillity of the boat and set sails for the protected Maddalena archipelago.Â
.
La Maddalena archipelago
Nestled amidst the glistening waters, the La Maddalena archipelago is a true gem, often hailed as the Pearl of the Mediterranean. This serene collection of islands is renowned for its unparalleled natural beauty, boasting turquoise lagoons, hidden coves, and uninhabited isles. Countless secluded bays, fringed by majestic limestone cliffs, offer access to some of Sardinia’s most magnificent beaches, inviting you to revel in the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters.
Immerse yourself in this captivating archipelago, both ashore and on the water, as you explore on foot and paddle with the boat’s SUPs. Wander through the rugged terrain of Caprera Island, where diverse flora and fauna await, leading you to breathtaking vantage points overlooking the bay. After a day of island exploration, Agave will dock at the charming marina of Porto Pozzo, renowned for its delectable seafood and fish restaurants, where the catch of the day is likely to have been sourced that very morning! Throughout the archipelago, numerous picturesque bays beckon, providing awe-inspiring backdrops for Agave’s wellness sailing experience.
The infamous Strait of Bonifacio
The voyage itinerary will largely depend on when Agave can sail across the Strait of Bonifacio. Skipper Vincent will know more about the wind forecast about a week before you join and what weather window will ensure the smoothest crossing. Visiting the harbour Bonifacio by boat has to be one of the highlights of this voyage, and it’s tipped to be one of the most impressive marina entrances in the world. The stunning white limestone cliffs against the deep turquoise sea are a breath-taking sight.
Explore the island’s rich history, culture and natural beauty. Bonifacio is known for its medieval citadel, old town and picturesque beaches. Be prepared for some serious Game of Thrones vibes!
Corsica
The fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, Corsica, is a natural wonderland boasting rugged mountain peaks, lush forests, and a network of mountainous hiking trails. Along the island’s southern coast, guests can enjoy onshore exploration, encountering breathtaking rolling rock formations and charming smaller islands that offer unparalleled snorkelling opportunities. Dedicate ample time to traverse the coastline, indulging in refreshing swims and immersing yourself in the island’s awe-inspiring natural scenery. Enhance your experience with serene afternoon meditation sessions, allowing the tranquil ambience to envelop you in blissful serenity.
Heading back towards the Maddalena archipelago, we’ll anchor in one of the most incredible bays we know in this area. The sunset hues of orange, pink and purple give a breath-taking backdrop as we enjoy a night of cooking together (or if guests wish, we can bring in a private chef who will prepare delicious Sardinian cuisine using fresh local ingredients).
Our last day saw an early morning yoga session before we set the sails south, through the Maddalena archipelago, and back down the coast of Sardinia. There will be a slightly longer duration under sail as we glide through the water with stunning views of the diverse coastline that makes Sardinia such a good destination for a luxury sailing holiday. This time on the water is great for spotting dolphins and sea birds. We’ll stop for lunch in a swimming spot before heading back into Olbia Marina for our last evening aboard together!
