Top Reasons to Visit Zante by Boat
The best way visit Zante is by sea. Sailing around the island allows for access to hidden coves, remote beaches, and quaint, traditional coastal villages, far from the bustling tourist towns. Here are some of our favourite spots;
1. Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach
Arguably Zante’s most famous landmark, Navagio Beach is only accessible by boat. Upon anchoring, in this secluded bay you can take in the towering cliffs which encircle the beach before strolling barefoot on bright white sand next to the rusting remains of a smuggler’s ship. It’s a fantastic experience and one of the top reasons travellers choose to visit Zante.
2. Explore the Blue Caves
An absolute must-see when you visit Zante are the incredible Blue Caves. These sea caves, located on the northern coast, are known for their vibrant blue waters and dramatic rock formations. Your skipper will be able to expertly anchor enabling you to swim through these impressive natural arches – do take underwater camera’s or a waterproof bag with you for unrivalled photo opportunities!

3. See Loggerhead Sea Turtles
Zante is home to one of the Mediterranean’s most important nesting grounds for loggerhead sea turtles, the largest of the hard-shelled turtles. If you sail around Laganas Bay or Marathonisi Island (also known as Turtle Island) and you may well spot these gentle creatures gliding beside your boat or, if you are really lucky, swimming alongside you whilst you snorkel.
4. Charming Greek Hospitality
Zante is home to numerous pretty harbours and marinas, including Zakynthos Town Port where you will likely embark and disembark. Alongside visiting Agios Nikolaos there will be plenty of chances to explore traditional Greek tavernas, sample local wines, and enjoy the warm hospitality that makes every visit to Zante unforgettable.
