sailing in Croatia

Sailing holidays in Croatia are one of the best ways to uncover this diverse and beautiful land. The idyllic Croatian coastline is comprised of thousands of pristine islands and tranquil inlets, many uninhabited and protected by National Park status. The calm-, clear waters here are made for gentle island-hopping whilst more experienced sailors will relish the strong mistral winds which occasionally blow out on the open ocean.

A Croatian sailing holiday offers the opportunity to explore this beautiful and historic part of the world, dining on mouth-watering seafood, exploring remote fishing village all whilst soaking up the warm Mediterranean sunshine.

Lying on the Adriatic Sea, sailing holidays in Croatia offer a piece of Mediterranean paradise, with dazzling turquoise waters, warm winds, ancient harbours and endless miles of unspoilt coastline.

Island Hopping in Croatia

Home to over 1,000 islands, Croatia’s stunning Dalmatian Coast is dramatically beautifully offering gentle cruising and island hopping in the tranquil, clear waters of the Adriatic. There is plenty to see and explore ashore from unspoilt secret coves to awe-inspiring waterfalls surrounded by lush green forests.

As we island hop our way through a network of pristine national parks, it will soon become clear that no two islands are the same; some are rich and colourful, others calmer and quieter but all guarantee a warm, friendly local welcome.

A Haven for Wildlife

The enclosed Adriatic Sea is a sanctuary for many endangered species which are protected by Croatian law which has designated several marine parks in the area, this makes sailing here truly special. One such species is the charismatic Mediterranean monk seal, once thought to be extinct it was recently ‘re-discovered’ using the numerous hidden beaches and underwater caves to call home.

Slightly more common, but still firmly on the red list, the playful Bottlenose dolphins – the only sea mammal known to mate and live in the Adriatic – make for a magnificent sighting.

This area is also inhabited by three types of shy and elusive sea turtles, the Loggerhead, Green and Leatherback, each are a sight to behold if guests are lucky enough to spot one.

A Place of Ancient History

Croatia has a fascinating history, with the ocean playing a key role securing the country as a place of strategic importance. Over millennia, Croatia has seen empires come and go, each leaving their mark on this diverse land. Sailing along the Dalmatian Coast you can call in on ancient forts and castles, uncover Roman palaces and explore mediaeval walled cities, each with their own story to tell.

With all of this and more – including fabulous food and drink, jaw-dropping natural beauty plus easy short flights from the UK – Croatia deserves to be on your must-see list.
