Sail with Cherokee as she leaves the lovely seaside town of Torquay, Devon and crosses the English channel to the Channel Islands and onto the stunning coast of France.

Once at sea, this voyage will follow south down the Devon coast, passing the beautiful seaside towns of Brixham, Dartmouth and Salcombe, where guests will be given the opportunity to explore. You’ll sail past one of Devon’s many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Berry Head. With porpoises and dolphins often playing in ships’ wake, make sure you’ve got your eyes peeled on the water as well as on the land for the native seabirds – guillemots, kittiwakes, kestrels and gulls. Cherokee will then begin her journey across to the Channel Islands, roughly 65 miles from the British mainland.

Depending on wind speeds and the weather, Cherokee will probably drop anchor on the Islands fairly late, and her most likely anchorage is Herm or Sark, the eastern isles. The next day or two are flexible and totally weather dependent, but guests may sail to another Channel Island or over to Brittany. Cherokee will also try to visit the beautiful archipelago of Ile de Brehat for a stunning hike, and the estuary of Lezardieux to explore.

This sailing area is exhilarating – with a huge tidal range of up to 12 metres on spring tides.  The tidal currents are strong, paired with great winds, make perfect for carrying Cherokee quickly to see amazing changing scenery and striking rock formations.

After sailing across to France, Cherokee will make the journey back to the Channel Islands, which boasts further great sailing, friendly atmosphere and stunning scenery. Again, the tides and weather will dictate the yachts sailing times, but Cherokee will sail into some of the harbours so guests can go ashore and experience some of the beautiful seaside towns. Your final destination will be St Hellier on the island of Jersey, with a mix of British and French cultures, it’s known for its beaches, cliffside walking trails, inland valleys and historic castles.

This is a very relaxed sailing holiday, spent mingling between French and British culture – all butter croissants for breakfast and cosy pubs sipping ale in the evening. These are amazing sailing grounds, beautiful scenery and a comfortable boat; what’s not to love?
