Dublin on the east coast of Ireland is one of the most attractive and livable European capitals and the starting point of our week-long journey. With Ireland on starboard and Wales on the port side, we set course for Cardiff, the capital of Wales. Along the naturally rugged coastline with its impressive variations, we sail through the Bay of Dublin, the southern part of the Irish Sea and the St George’s Channel. Enjoy a late summer’s week of sailing on board the Eye of the Wind: It is time to experience the ship as a place of tranquillity, where you can leave behind the flood of information and the hectic buzz of everyday life.

After leaving Dublin Bay, we reach the centre of the Irish Sea. Here, the wind and tide squeeze the ocean between the land masses. Following no set rhythm, the landscape changes again and again. Ireland on our starboard side, Wales on our port side – from time to time we can see a rural and sleepy idyll on land amidst a stunning landscape. Further south, at the exit of St George’s Channel, the waves become noticeably longer and higher. Impressions of nature, blend with the sailing, creating a unique holiday experience.

Depending on the progress of our journey, there will be several opportunities to go on shore at some of the ports along our route. Due to the weather conditions that can change quickly, the captain plans the journey from day to day. Whenever possible, the passengers’ suggestions and wishes will be taken into account, too. This ensures that your cruise is a pleasant mix of adventure, relaxation, active participation and pure enjoyment. If the wind, swell and current allow it, we will alternatively spend a night or two at anchor in the shelter of the coast – a highlight of every sailing trip! St Bride’s Bay or the sailing waters off Milford Haven offer wonderful opportunities to drop anchor.

Arrive at your final destination of Cardiff, the capital of Wales leaving the ship with a sailor’s bag full of unforgettable memories from your holiday at sea. As part of your visit to Dublin, you can take part in a guided tour of the city and gain an insight into the city’s local history and its peculiar language. Special theme tours deal with the topics of nature and the environment, Welsh culture, or legends and ghost stories. Cardiff is a city packed with many sightseeing spots, sports, culture and entertainment. Historic houses and castles, nature and animals, art or water sports … there are all kinds of entertainment to enjoy, with theatres, galleries, museums, opera, ballet, musicals and live music to suit every taste.
