Sustainable Sailing in Fragile Landscapes
Our fleet of sailing vessels ranges from historic tall ships to modern expedition yachts, operating under sail wherever possible. Alongside our strict codes of conduct at sea, this ensures minimal impact on the local environment and community. By joining a sailing experience, you are choosing a more sustainable way to experience Norway, leaving only footprints behind.
This land of contrasts brims with abundant wildlife and wide-ranging weather systems. In the Arctic North, the land of the midnight sun feels like the very edge of the world and offers a totally unique night-sailing experience. Explore the elemental arctic landscape by day and night, taking in whales, walruses, polar bears and vast icebergs and glaciers.
This is the very wildest of Norway and often feels entirely uncharted. Southern Norway, by contrast, is lined with traditional waterside villages and charming seaside towns, greenery, white sandy beaches, sheltered coves and smooth sloping rocks.
Tromsø – Whale Watching and Northern Lights
Tromsø, known as the “gateway to the Arctic” is the starting point for many of our Norwegian sailing holidays. Witness the crown jewel of the Arctic sky – the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. Experience this natural phenomenon in the winter months during the Polar Night when there are just a few hours of daylight each day.
As you sail along Norway’s arctic waters from Tromsø, you might be lucky enough to encounter several species of whales as they pass through the fjords. Skjervoy is frequented by all of our small sailing vessels in Tromsø, and is best known for its thriving herring and plankton populations, which attract a variety of whales, from humpback whales to orcas, and makes the perfect destination for a whale watching holiday in Norway.
Lofoten Islands Holidays
The enchanting Lofoten Islands are a haven of dramatic landscapes, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage. Immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of Norway’s archipelago, where every turn reveals a breathtaking panorama. From hiking and kayaking to fishing and birdwatching, Lofoten offers a myriad of activities for nature lovers.
Explore the charming fishing villages that dot the coastline, their iconic red cabins adding a splash of colour to the rugged surroundings.
Travelling around these islands is certainly best done under sail, as you discover inlets and fjords only accessible from the water. Wonder at the world-famous Trollfjord as you sail through dramatic mountain landscapes and cascading waterfalls.
End your day with a beach bonfire on a remote island as you watch the Midnight Sun float on the horizon.
