Visit Easter Island

Isolated and volcanic, Easter Island is well known for its impressive stone statues, which were formed by the early Rapa Nui people. These carved human figures feature oversized heads and are scattered across the island, so we recommend spending a few days here with a local guide to fully immerse yourself in the culture. This could be added onto the start of a trip or as a wonderful conclusion to your Pacific Ocean adventure.

Sailing in Tahiti

One of the most aesthetically beautiful archipelagos in the world, Polynesia is made up of over 1000 islands, which are strung across the central and southern Pacific, in a subregion referred to as Oceania. Rising dramatically from deep azure waters, the Polynesian islands are as diverse above land as they are below.
On departure from Easter Island, our first stop is often the Pitcairn Islands, a British overseas territory where many of the population are descendants of the mutiny on the Bounty. From wild, rugged cliffs to powder white sand where waves lap gently, the Pitcairns are a must-see for any adventure traveller, offering a rich history with astonishing natural beauty. Completely secluded from mainstream tourism, sailing in Polynesia is one of the best, if not the only, ways to visit.

From the Pitcairn Islands to Le Gambier, where we aim for Mangareva, a preserved paradise, which is the main island in the Le Gambier cluster. Time is allowed ashore here, so snorkel in the crystal clear lagoon, experience life as Robinson Crusoe on deserted tropical beaches or hike up the mountains where you’ll be rewarded with unrivalled views across the Pacific ocean, laying eyes where very few other humans have.

Continuing north through Polynesia, we hope to see the Tuomotu atoll islands. Some are no more than coral reefs, while others are home to small villages that welcome us ashore to share their hospitality. We sail further to the Society Islands before arriving in magnificent Tahiti after an incredible 30-day voyage at sea.

Sail to Hawaii

From Tahiti, our next destination is the American island state of Hawaii, a distance that requires nearly a month at sea, sailing north with the trade winds.

Not long after departing Tahiti, we will stop at Mo’orea to enjoy the laid-back Tahitian lifestyle as well as snorkelling in the vibrant waters. Depending on the weather, we will spend a few days exploring here before commencing the ocean crossing and heading north to the equator. Sailing for around 16 days, this epic voyage is one of warm sunny days with billowing trade winds. Keep watch, learn more about the vessel, try your hand at some celestial navigation or absorb yourself in a good book or three.
Crossing the equator is always a celebratory moment, taking Tecla back into the northern hemisphere for the first time in months. We make for the island of Oahu, admiring the beauty of Hawaii before disembarking in Honolulu, where we recommend spending a few days swimming in the bath-like waters and experiencing Hawaiian culture.

Sail under undisturbed night skies where the stars seem to fall into the ocean, spend days with just your fellow crew and the sound of the ocean waves for company. Step ashore on isolated lands where mobile phones are unheard of and life runs to a different pace.
