Catamaran Charter Sailing in Sardinia

Olbia → Tavolara → Golfo Pevero → La Maddalena Archipelago → Strait of Bonifacio → Bonifacio (Corsica) → return Olbia

The coastal city of Olbia sits in northeast Sardinia, with a palm-lined waterfront; it’s the perfect place to join Agave. Olbia airport is a short taxi ride away, so if you arrive early, there are plenty of cafes and beautiful medieval piazzas to explore before boarding. From here, your exclusive catamaran charter in Sardinia begins as you dine in the beautiful bay of Porto San Paolo and spend the night at anchor. Wake to the impressive neighbouring island of Tavolara with its towering limestone mountains making a dramatic backdrop for a morning on board.

Head north towards the famous Golfo Pevero, where you’ll find some of the freshest seafood and traditional pasta dishes the island has to offer. Then set sail for the protected La Maddalena archipelago. A tranquil, protected group of islands known for turquoise lagoons and secret coves, with some of the clearest water swimming in the Mediterranean.

Exploring La Maddalena and the Strait of Bonifacio

Often called the Pearl of the Mediterranean, La Maddalena is an archipelago of quiet bays, limestone cliffs, and deserted islands. Spend time here exploring ashore, swimming from the boat, and making use of the onboard stand-up paddle boards and snorkelling equipment. A walk through Caprera Island reaches a breathtaking viewpoint across the bay, and there’s time to visit the nearby marina of Porto Pozzo for an evening of fresh fish and seafood.

  • Snorkelling in crystal-clear lagoons
  • SUP boarding between the islands
  • Walking trails on Caprera Island
  • Fresh seafood dining at Porto Pozzo

The timing of the crossing into Corsica will depend on the wind forecast, which your skipper can advise on around a week before departure. Arriving at Bonifacio by boat is one of the highlights of this voyage, with the harbour entrance framed by soaring white limestone cliffs above deep turquoise water. Explore the medieval citadel, old town, and picturesque beaches at your own pace, with a specially curated cultural tour and local wine stops available if you’d like them.

The Island of Corsica

Few places in the Mediterranean feel quite as wild and unhurried as Corsica. The fourth largest island in the sea, its south coast offers a dramatic mix of rolling rock formations, hidden coves, and crystal-clear snorkelling spots that feel a world away from the well-trodden tourist trail. Inland, craggy peaks and dense forest rise sharply from the shoreline – a reminder that this is an island with real character.

Arriving by boat, is certainly one of best ways to see it. Time here is unhurried and yours to shape. Swim from the boat, explore the coastline on foot, or simply sit on deck with a drink and watch the world go by.

Things to note
Sailing vs Shoretime
There is normally the chance to swim before/after breakfast and explore ashore before sailing for a new destination. Depending on the wishes of the group, Agave normally anchors for lunch with opportunities to swim before making way to port to in the afternoon to explore an Italian town and enjoy dinner in a restaurant.
Do I need to take part in night watches?
No, Agave does not sail at night.
Do I need insect repellent?
Mosquitos can be active on land in the evenings so take a good DEET spray if you're prone to getting bitten!
