Day Sailing on Bessie Ellen

Step aboard traditional tall ship Bessie Ellen for a day sail experience this summer! Offering just two exclusive dates as part of her 120th birthday tour, set sail from Plymouth on the South Devon coast.

Friday 2nd August 2024 – 10.00 > 17.00
Saturday 3rd August 2024 – 10.00 > 17.00

No experience is necessary, but we love to involve you with all aspects of the ship, keeping active and working up an appetite ready for a great lunch from the galley. For those that just want to sit back and enjoy the experience, Bessie Ellen’s open decks and large hatches offer plenty of space to watch the world go by.

From Sutton Harbour, the ancient port of Plymouth, get hands-on with the crew as they show you the ropes, hoist sails, take a turn at the helm and set a course out past Drakes Island.

At 125ft long and with 8 sails to set, we should have a fantastic morning learning the ropes before dropping anchor for a great lunch in the secluded bay of Cawsand. Dive overboard and take a quick swim before we set sail along the coast, heading out round the breakwater and turning back for Plymouth.

All drinks and lunch plus afternoon tea and cake are included in the ticket price.
