Captain Harry and his wife Marianne make an exceptional team. Morgenster, which translates to Morning Star, is the second sailing ship that Harry and Marianne have managed together over many years. In 2008, the sea-faring Dutch couple dedicated substantial thought and attention to detail to converting Morgenster from a deep-sea fishing vessel hull to a finely tuned and graceful square rigger.

Harry’s passion for music ensures that musical instruments and lively crew singing frequently enrich their voyages and time spent in port. Harry is well respected throughout the sail training world and loves to teach sailing.

Harry rotates his captain’s position with Jakob. Originally from Germany, Jakob has been sailing with Harry from the age of 22 when he started on Morgenster as a deckhand. He has since gone on to study at the marine school in Enkhuizen going through his first mate and then Captain’s training in 2016.
