Rhea’s History
A 54m, Bermudan Ketch, Rhea is a purpose-built charter Vessel, sailing in and around the Caribbean.
Rhea is the youngest of three sister ships and the creation of Andreas Steidle-Sailer, a passionate sailor and visionary with a love of classic yachts. He first built Kairós when he realised that sailing on board beautiful classic yachts was often only accessible to the super-rich and wanted to create an opportunity for anybody to be able to sail in luxury on a modern yacht with classic lines. He teamed up with Klaus Röder in 2007, who based Kairós on a classic yacht whilst keeping up with the modern-day schooners, built for performance sailing and guest comfort.
Chronos followed in 2013 and Rhea in 2016. She is currently the last of her three sisters to be commissioned and built (although there are exciting plans in the pipeline for a fourth, eco-friendly addition!) Designed on a classic ketch rig, Rhea holds her sailing lines beautifully, gliding through the water. Built and registered in Turkey, she sailed down to the Caribbean, and there she has remained, showing her guests the favourable climate and good sailing grounds.
With a 1000 m² sail area, Rhea is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful and fastest sailing yachts despite the high safety requirements of a passenger ship according to today’s rules. She is exceptionally seaworthy and quiet and offers her sailors generous comfort in the classical ambience of a yacht.
