Dominic and Barbara Bridgman have sailed all their lives on classic and historic boats.
Dominic started sailing his Wayfarer as a child, progressing to university racing captain. His professional career started when he became the first mate on the J Class Velsheda in his early twenties. He progressed to sail training instructor and skipper of several traditional boats, mainly based in the South West.
Barbara started her career in the Tuscan archipelago where from dinghy sailing she moved on to racing crew in the classic Mediterranean circuit. In 2001 she moved to UK to progress her career and become a sail training instructor. She met Dominic and they started sailing and working together for a number of sail training charities.
When they received Lynher, Dominic and Barbara formed the Lynher River Barge CIC to protect the historic value of the barge and to raise funds in order to complete the restoration.
Dominic and Barbara sail Lynher as a family with their two sea-faring children aged 11 and 14. The family dog Mateo is normally onboard to greet guests too!
