YOUR SAILING AREA
Cornwall, UK
Set the sails from the maritime port of Falmouth, with its picture-perfect streets, river mouth and bay. Falmouth is a great spot to join Blue Clipper and has be dubbed the sailing hub of the South West. It’s a great position to sail with the wind, exploring river creeks and the beautiful Cornish rugged coastline. Your voyage will, of course, be dictated by the direction of the wind and tide to make full use of Blue Clipper’s sails, so there is no set route or itinerary.
Depending on where the wind takes you, you could head west, down the beautiful Cornish coastline and up the Helford River exploring the beautiful creeks that have inspired the likes of Daphne du Maurier. Moor up on National Trust beaches, visit riverside smuggler’s inns and experience true freedom as the wind fills Blue Clipper’s sails and propels you along this unique and impressive coastline. The Helford river is one of the last places in England where ancient woodland meets the sea and is great for exploring with the South West coast path entwined.
Perhaps the wind will take you down West and around the Lizard peninsula. This stretch of coastline retains its quintessentially Cornish charm with traditional fishing villages, thatch cottages and sleepy village pubs. Mounts Bay is home to the iconic St Michael’s Mount castle, which makes for a beautiful anchorage if the wind is in our favour!
Whichever way you head along the Cornish coast, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, birds and plenty of other marine life. You might even fancy a swim in the beautiful Helford river so don’t forget your swimsuit and be sure to make use of the boats kayaks for exploring the harder to reach river creeks.

Blue Clipper
Guest berths: 12 Rig: Gaff Schooner
Built-in Sweden in 1991, tall ship Blue Clipper is an impressive three-masted gaff rig schooner. With a clipper bow, original teak deck and elegant stern, she mixes a traditional tall ship feel with a relatively modern build giving guests an authentic experience with all the mod cons.
She has spent many years sailing all over the world from the Caribbean to the Arctic and currently spends her summers sailing Scotland and the Hebrides and her autumn months heading south to Spain and Portugal. Originally owned by the Brandy company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessey, she appeared in many TV programmes and commercials before being privately bought in the late 90’s.
On deck, she boasts ample space for her guests to become fully immersed in hands-on sailing; heaving the ropes, hoisting the sails, learning ropes skills and even taking the helm. She has 3 kayaks and 3 paddle-boards for guest use while on anchor so you can explore even further inshore.
A spacious saloon, wheelhouse and galley also sit at deck level while below decks has been well-considered with six spacious ensuite cabins. All cabins have full size bunks, a small desk, a porthole for natural light and heating/air conditioning.
