Sail from the Danish capital of Copenhagen, exploring Stubbekobing and its surrounding islands before sailing for Kiel.

Begin your sailing holiday in the Danish capital of Copenhagen where you will find Trinovante berthed right in the centre of the action on the Amaliehaven quayside. Copenhagen is an iconic city that barely needs an introduction with beautiful waterfronts and canals, historic buildings, parks, and museums galore. It is well worth spending a day or two here exploring before you board.
Leaving Copenhagen behind, the very first thing we see heading down the Øresund sound is ‘The Bridge’,  now made famous by the Scandinavian-noir crime television series, it spans the sound between Denmark and Sweden.
Onto Stubbekøbing, a very picturesque little harbour and home to the quirky Motorcycle and Radio Museum which has the largest collection of veteran motorcycles in Northern Europe. From Stubbekøbing, Trinovante might head into the big bay area of Smålands Farvandet surrounded by the Danish islands. Some think is the nicest cruising area in Denmark. There are many good anchorages here for Trinovante with a plethora is islands to discover. Our time will be spent getting a balance of exhilarating sailing teamed with onshore exploration.
For generations, the Danish islands connected with each other and the outside world through their trading schooners. On the island of Aero, at Marstal, schooners still congregate. We hope to visit Marstal, which is a very attractive Danish island town with small single story cottages, cobbled streets, hollyhocks and a highly rated maritime museum. These are just a couple of the many places we might visit in the Danish islands before we head to Kiel.
Journey’s end is on a quayside in Kiel where all the traditional sailing ships stop before transiting the Kiel Canal. This is always a bustling place and a great spot for a beer in a cafe while you people and ship watch.

As with all our sailing holidays, the exact itinerary will depend on the weather and tides will be chosen each day by your skipper to make the best use of the weather conditions. All meals and hot/soft drinks and hire of waterproofs are included in your ticket price.

Trinovante

Guest berths: 8 Rig: Gaff Schooner

Designed and lovingly built by her current owners John and Su for long-distance sailing, Trinovante is a wonderful tall ship inspired by Portuguese Schooner Creoula.  Built-in a small village on the banks of the River Colne in Essex, this beautiful three-masted Schooner was designed to be strong and seaworthy but also be able to carry plenty of sail with a small crew. She is a British registered, three-masted schooner and is UK Marine and Coast Guard Agency coded for category 1.

Trinovante is an absolute joy to sail whether you are an experienced sailor or a complete beginner. Her skippers and crew love welcoming guests aboard and Trinovante is a boat that invites you to get involved. The possibilities for different sail combinations mean that she can be handled to suit her crew and the weather conditions. Her rig is relatively simple for her size which means she is a great boat to learn on and get involved, quickly becoming part of the crew.

Trinovante never sails the same route twice and she covers some 3000 to 4000 sea miles every year. From the wild mountains, fjords and islands of Norway to the medieval seaports of the Netherlands; from the Orkney and Shetland Isles to the bustling centre of Copenhagen. Enjoy unique and varied sailing holiday adventures with a mix of taster weekends, coastal sailing and offshore voyages in some of the most beautiful parts of Europe.

Her Skippers are also her owners who designed and built the boat themselves. Their passion for life on the water, their boat and sharing the experience with their guests is their top priority. They even ensure they make time to have a chat over the phone with every guest that books with them.
